Geroge M. McCartney
George M. McCartney, 78, of Coaldale passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Born February 7, 1933 , in Coaldale he was a son to the late James and Anna (Ryan) McCartney. He was in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS E.H. Allen. He was a Pennsylvania State Trooper serving out of the Lehighton barracks for 19 years before retiring. He was a member of many different American Legion Posts, AmVets, and other organizations in the area. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen Roth and her companion Ronald Lightning of Jim Thorpe; Nancy Huntington and her husband John living in Jamestown; a brother James McCartney and his wife Susan, of Orwigsburg; grandchildren Katelyn, Ronald Lightning II, Charity, Andrew, Nichole and Ashlyn; great-grandchildren Jazzleen, Anthony, Aalyhia, Jordan and Isaiah. He was predeceased by a daughter Maureen and a son George Jr.; two sisters Alysan Krize and Catherine Barbara Benek. Service: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, in the David J. Stianche Funeral Home, 123 Center St. Jim Thorpe, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to begin to gather in the funeral home at 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
