Howard G. Parfitt, 80, of 139 E. Holland St., Summit Hill, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, in his residence. He was the husband of Joan (Benek) Parfitt. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last October.
He worked for the former MaryD and Newkirk mining companies and later worked for Alvin H. Butz Contracting as a union carpenter
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Robert and Catherine (Williams) Parfitt.
A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Howard, and his wife, Jo Ann, of Nazareth, and David, and his wife, Jacqueline, of East Stroudsburg; a grandson, Ethan Parfitt; a sister, Catherine "Mazzie" Peters of Schuylkill Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Service: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill. Interment at convenience of family. Calling 10-11 a.m. Saturday in church.
