Michael F. Mayernik Sr., 74, of 222 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, formerly of Lansford, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey. He was the husband of Dorothy "Dottie" (Thomas) Mayernik of Tamaqua. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in October.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Isador and Karoline (Kovac) Mayernik.
He worked for the Bethlehem Mines, Stanley Vidmar, Data Processing, and last for Silberline in Lansford.
He was a social member of the Lansford American Legion, Lansford Amvets, Italian Club and the Coaldale Rod & Gun Club.
He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, Lansford.
Michael was an avid golfer.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Frances Zalusky, and her husband Frank, of Lansford, Jo-Ann Parfitt, and her husband Howard, of Nazareth and Pattie Sanders, and her husband Allan, of Kempton; sons, Michael Francis Mayernik Jr., and his wife Chrissy, of Lehighton, and Thomas Mayernik, and his wife Valerie, of Freeland; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a brother, Joseph Mayernik, and his wife Winnie, of Florida; sisters, Margie Drozd, and her husband Edward, of Kresgeville, and Millie Mayernik of New York; a nephew, Skip Thomas, of Bowmanstown; and a step-sister, Hannelore Hills, of Texas.
Service: is Friday, June 22, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. from the Skrabak-Parambo Funeral Home, 210 E. Bertsch St., Lansford; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, Lansford. Interment will follow at Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Calling hours are on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, from 10-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
