Fred Winsko, 86, of Tamaqua, formerly of Coaldale, died Friday in the Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hometown.Prior to retiring, he had been employed by Phelps Dodge in Jamesburg, N.J.Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Andrew and Theresa (Costellnik) Winsko.A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.He was a member of St. Mary Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale, and graduated from the former Coaldale High School.Surviving are two sisters, Rose Maliniak of Nesquehoning and Catherine Wolf of Whitehall; nieces and nephews.He was also preceded in death by nine brothers, Peter, Andrew, John, Joseph, Michael, Paul, George, Theodore and Alex; and three sisters, Mary Homick, Anna Sell and Olga Winsko. Services : 11 a.m., Wednesday, August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Daniel Mathewson officiating. Interment, St. Mary Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Summit Hill.
