Biography

Geraldine A. Burns, 81, of Weatherly, PA and formerly of Summit Hill, PA, died on Monday, July 27, 2009 in Weatherwood, Weatherly. She was the wife of the late Frank Burns. Born in Coaldale, PA on June 13, 1928, Geraldine was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary (nee Gallagher) Delay. She was a graduate of the former Coaldale High School. A member of the Catholic faith, she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill. Surviving her are sisters, Mary Eltringham of Orwigsburg, PA, Anna Kranik of Bethlehem, PA, and Rita Jones of Baltimore, MD; sister in law, Miriam Delay of Baltimore, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Edward Delay, Thomas Delay, and William Delay and sisters, Helen Miller, Catherine Wall, Grace Evans, Jean Rohrer, Alice Vrabel, and Theresa Harth. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date and interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge Street, Coaldale, PA.
