Robert Stephen Novak, 73, of Martinez, Ga., passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 in the University Hospital, Augusta, Ga.
He was the husband of Elizabeth A. "Betty" Novak. They were married for 49 years on Nov. 14.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Stephen W. and Eva (Zenzel) Novak.
He was a graduate of the former Coaldale High School, class of 1958.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961.
He worked in the Local 24 Union as an electrician in Baltimore, Md., from 1961-81, and then worked for Bechtel Construction at the Limerick Power Plant in Pennsylvania until 1985; as a craft superintendent for Bechtel Construction at the Savannah River Plant from 1985-2000; and was later employed by a contractor in telecommunications in New Jersey and New York, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Mission, North Augusta, S.C.
Novak was a member of the American Legion in Evans, Ga.
He was an avid golfer.
He was a loving husband and father who loved his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Gregory Stephen, and his wife, Gail, of Frederick, Md.; a daughter Christine Marie, wife of Danny King of Birdsboro, Pa; three grandchildren, Bobby Novak, Melissa Novak and Julia Novak; two sisters, Dorothy J. Masterson of Severna Park, Md., and Ruth, wife of William Hill of Martinsburg, W. Va.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, St. Mary Orthodox Church, First Street, Coaldale.
Military interment, St. John Orthodox Cemetery, Nesquehoning.
