Patrick W. Gallagher Sr.

Patrick W. Gallagher Sr., 86, husband of Nancy J. (McRea) Gallagher, of Royersford, Pa., passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Coaldale, Pa., he was a son of the late Patrick J. and Anna (Sheerin) Gallagher.

Mr. Gallagher was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Royersford. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army. Mr. Gallagher worked for Lehigh Coal as a miner in Mine #8 in Coaldale. He retired as a machine operator at Container Corp. He also served as treasurer for more than 25 years of the United Paperworkers International Union, Valley Forge Local #807. He was a life-member of the Phoenixville VFW and the Spring City American Legion.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Mr. Gallagher is survived by two daughters, Rose Anne, wife of Francis Neal, of West Chester, and Nancy J. Gallagher, of Royersford, four sons, Patrick W. Gallagher Jr. of Royersford, John P. Gallagher, of Phoenixville, Leo B., husband of Selena Gallagher, of McLean, Va., and William T., husband of Heather Gallagher, of Spring City. He is also survived by three sisters, Mary Taylor, of Cape May, N.J., Agnes Karpa, of Levittown, and Bernadine Maruschak, of Coaldale, two brothers, Emmett Gallagher, of Pittsburgh, and James Gallagher, of North Carolina, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Gallagher.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lewis Road at Walnut Street, Royersford, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. James Badeaux. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Royersford.
