Thelma (Jones) Martinec
Thelma Martinec, 91, of Coaldale, died April 23 in Coaldale. She was the widow of Stephen J. Martinec, who died June 18, 1984. They were married for 25 years.
Prior to retiring in 1978, she had been employed as head teller at the former American Bank, Coaldale.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary A. (Pascoe) Jones.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale, where she had served as church treasurer and board member.
A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, she was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Panther Valley Women's Club, and past president of the Coaldale BPW.
The last immediate member of her family, she is survived by nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; and great grand nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, William, Frank, Theodore, Jake and David Jones; and two sisters, Mary Melley and Gloria Boyle.
Service: 11 a.m., Monday, First Congregational Church, East Ruddle St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Interment, Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, or 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
