Ronald Paul Mateyak, 76, of Apollo Beach, Florida and formerly of Coaldale and New Ringgold, PA and Freehold, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Ellenton, FL. He was the husband of Kathy (nee Hartey) Mateyak to whom he would have been married 46 years on October 30. Born in Lansford, PA on May 12, 1941 Ron was a son of the late John and Ethel (nee Krebs) Mateyak. A 1959 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, Ron served in the Army for three years after graduation. In 1974 he graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ron was employed as a health inspector for the Health Department of Monmouth County, NJ from where he retired in 1998. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and was a former member of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford. In addition to his wife Kathy, Ron is survived by children, Kathleen Favaloro and her husband Salvatore of Boothwyn, PA, Matthew Mateyak of Southampton, NJ, Helen Busocker and her husband John of Jim Thorpe, PA, Brian McNamara and his wife Eleanor of Pine Island, NY, Susan Grube and her husband, Chris of Orwigsburg, PA, and Edward McNamara of St. Petersburg, FL; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was also predeceased by his brother, John "Skip" Mateyak. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 28 in St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, 1 East Abbott Street, Lansford with The Rev. Marjorie Keiter officiating. Interment in St. John Slovak Lutheran Cemetery, Summit Hill, PA will follow the service. Call 6-9 PM on Friday, October 27 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua and 9-11 AM on Saturday, October 28 in St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford. Ron had requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials in his name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or any other charity which benefits veterans.
