Alexander Trubilla

Obituary

Alexander Trubilla, 83, of West Lehigh Street, Coaldale, formerly of Palmer Township, died Sunday in Hazleton. He was the husband of Stella (Sedor) Trubilla.

He had been employed at the former Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, until 1985. He also owned and operated a barber shop in Lansford and was a musician, playing with several local bands.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Peter and Mary (Mihalik) Trubilla Sr.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.

A 1949 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was also a member of the Coaldale American Legion, the Coaldale VFW and the Disabled American Veterans.

An avid hunter, he enjoyed harvesting local wild mushrooms.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Theresa Rose, wife of Andrew Szuhay of Enoch, Utah, and Patricia Ann, wife of Steven Dreyer of McAdoo; a son, Russell John Trubilla and his wife, Lisa Lyn of Coaldale; and grandchildren Steven Patrick Dreyer, Andrew Alexander Szuhay, Zachary John Trubilla, Jacob Michael Trubilla, Sadie Lyn Trubilla, and Thomas Alexander Smith.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alexis Mary Smith, who died in 2005; four brothers, Peter Jr., John, Wash and Stephen; and two sisters, Mary Stoudt and Helen Bensinger.

Service: Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy, noon, Wednesday, St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford, with the Rev. Vasyl Chepelsky officiating. Interment, St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Summit Hill. Call Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon, in the church. Memorials in his name may be made to the church.
