Mary (Firkal) Moyer

Mary (Firkal) Moyer, 85, of East Union Street, Tamaqua, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 21, while in the loving care of her family.

Preceded in death in 2009 by her husband of 57 years, William J. Moyer, she is survived by daughters, Mrs. Terry Koch, wife of Duane, of Middleport, Mrs. Lee James, wife of Keith, of Tamaqua, Lisa Moyer of Tamaqua, Mrs. Anjella Hrebik, wife of Mark, of Nesquehoning; sons, Joseph B. Moyer, and his wife Melanie, of Tamaqua, Charles J. Moyer, and his wife Nancy, of Tamaqua, William J. Moyer, and his wife Susie, of Tamaqua; sisters; Mrs. Irene Toth, and her husband Francis, of Coaldale, twin sister, Eva Lazur of Lansford; grandchildren, Laura, and her husband Joseph Faenza, Kristen, and Glenn Behr, and his wife Lindsay; Lauren Moyer, Billy and Eric James, Ashley Pelo, Kaysi McLaughlin, Collin and William Cole Moyer, Mike, and Markie Hrebik; great-grandson, Connor; many nieces and nephews survive her including her and Bill's special nieces, Mrs. Virginia Lee Jones, Mrs. JoAnn Chapman, and Mrs. Patricia Steiner.

She was also predeceased by sisters, Mrs. Sue Klusko, Mrs. Marjorie Houser, Mrs. Helen Maketa, Mrs. Anna Moyer; and brother, Michael Firkal.

Born Monday, May 9, 1932, in Coaldale, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Postitais) Firkal.

A member of St. John XXIII Catholic Chuch of Tamaqua, Mary was a 1950 Coaldale High School graduate.

Mary was a devoted mother who enjoyed taking care of her home and tending to her family.

Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, in St John XXIII Catholic Church, 264 W. Broad St., Tamaqua.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 26, in the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, and on Saturday from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m.

Interment in parish cemetery, Tamaqua.
