William U. Jones
William U. Jones, 71, formerly of Pitt Street in Tamaqua, died on Wednesday (June 29, 2016) in Hometown. He was the husband of Jean (Schmauch) Jones. He had been employed at the Palmerton Zinc Company for over 30 years and later for Trans Western in Hometown. Born in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late David J. and Dorothy M. (Lindeman) Jones. William was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua.
Jones was also a member of the Tamaqua American Legion Post 173, the Penn State Carbon County Club, and a former member of the American Hose Company and the Citizens Fire Company, both of Tamaqua.
Bill was a graduate of the last class from the Coaldale High School in 1964.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, William D. Jones and his wife Shiela, of Brockton; a sister-in-law, Gail, wife of Elsworth Davis, of Owl Creek; a nephew, Glenn Davis and his partner, Michael Clark of Maryland; and several cousins.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Darryll Kensinger officiating. Interment, with military honors, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Online condolences at Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home.
