Chester J. Gangaware
Chester J. Gangaware, 94, of West Phillips Street, Coaldale, died Saturday (July 9, 2016) in Coaldale. He was the husband of the late Jean Gangaware, who died in 2008.
Chester had been employed at Number 8 and Number 9 mines for 15 years and later as the chief electrician for Fuller Co., Catasauqua.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Chester L. and Emily (Reis) Gangaware.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was a member of the First Congregational Church, Coaldale; the Coaldale American Legion Post; and the Coaldale Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving are a son, Chester M. Gangaware of Lake Hauto; a daughter, LaRue, wife of Joseph Pogwist of Palmerton; grandchildren, Karen Barrett, Gayle Potter and Craig Gangaware; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trey.
Along with his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Gangaware; and a sister, Jenny Hartranft.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, First Congregational Church, Ruddle Street, Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Interment, with military honors, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 9-11 a.m., Tuesday, in the church. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of choice .
