Andrew Hosak, 91, of East Abbott Street, Lansford, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 1, in the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. He was the husband of Eleanor (Meterko) Hosak. He and his brother, Michael, were the co-owners of the former Hosak Pontiac Car Dealership, Lansford and Tamaqua, for 50 years. Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna Hosak. A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 702nd Battalion in the European Theatre. Hosak was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church and the American Legion Post, both of Lansford. Surviving in addition to his widow are two sisters, Marie, wife of Joseph Galgoci of Lansford, and Irene Geusic of Berkley Heights, N.J.; three stepsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Service: Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 104 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, with the Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelskyy officiating. Military graveside service, St. John's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Summit Hill. Call 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in the church.
