Leonard William Nesterak, 78, of West High Street, Coaldale, died Tuesday (April 19, 2016) in Coaldale.
Prior to retiring, he taught at St. Patrick Catholic School in York.
Previously, he taught at the former St. Michael Catholic School in Lansford.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Garber) Nesterak.
He was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish in Tamaqua and was a
member of the former St. John Lithuanian Catholic Church, Coaldale, prior to
its closing.
A 1955 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree from George Washington University.
Nesterak was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society, the Federal Prison
Ministry and the Legion of Mary.
The last immediate member of his family, he is survived by numerous nieces
and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Louis, Edward, Thomas, Joseph and
William Nesterak; and sisters, Sophie Maruschak and Mildred Nesterak.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Friday, SS. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua.
Interment, parish cemetery, Owl Creek.
