Anthony J. Valitsky
Anthony J. Valitsky, 94, of Maple Shade, Nesquehoning, formerly of Tamaqua, died Thursday, April 14 in Coaldale. He was the husband of the late Virginia Valitsky. Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Orsulak) Valitsky. He was a graduate of the former Coaldale High School. He had retired from the Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds. Prior to that, he was employed at the LC&N No. 14 mines. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the former Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church prior to its closing, and presently was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford. He was a former member of the Coaldale American Legion. Surviving are two sisters, Verna Hess and her husband Edward of Shahola, Pa., and Victoria Phillips and her husband William of Thicket, Texas; and several nieces and nephews including his surviving care giver Joseph Valitsky of Summit Hill. He was pre-deceased by brothers Louis Valitsky, Severin Valitsky, and Constantine Valitsky; and sisters Josephine Krockovich, Catherine Sieluerd, and Margaret Wilson. Services: Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, in St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, East Abbott St., Lansford, with the Rev. Kenneth Medve officiating. Interment, Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale. Scriptural prayer service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
