Doris Lutchkus



Doris (Wescott) Lutchkus, 85, of West Phillips Street, Coaldale, died Sunday in Coaldale. She was the widow of George F. Lutchkus, a former Marine, who died in 2007.

A previous resident of Philadelphia, she was employed by a Part Timers Agency, in the store manager's office of a former Gimbel's Store and as a secretary for a public relations firm. She had earlier been employed by the U.S. Dept. of the Interior in Washington, D.C.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late William and Dora (Rubachenk) Wescott.

A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, she was also a graduate of the McCann School of Business.

She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua, and a member of the former St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Coaldale.

Surviving are a sister, Esther, wife of Stephen Sterzen of Coaldale; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Peter Cheplick; and two sisters, Helen Cheplick and Isabelle Cipko.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Wednesday, SS. Peter and Paul RC Church, Tamaqua, with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating. Interment, parish cemetery.
