Col. William G. Richards, 84, of Apopka, Fla., passed away on Friday, July 31. He was the husband of Joan M. Richards.He served 30 years in the Army, retiring as a colonel in 1973. He taught algebra and geometry in high school in Coaldale for 11 years before retiring to Florida.Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Norman and Hilda (Kern) Richards.He was a 1946 graduate of West Point; a 1953 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh; and received a master's degree in petroleum engineering.He was a member of Errol Estates Country Club, Apopka, and the Rolling Hills Community Church, Zellwood, Fla.Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, William (Cher) of Frazier, Pa., Robert of Garner, N.C., and Bruce (Kathy) of Manassas, Va.; four brothers, Norman and Clarence, both of Lacanta, Evan of Coaldale and Ron (Dorothy) of Emmaus; and five grandchildren, Tracy (Michael) McMillen, Cody, Katrina, Heather and Melissa Richards.
