Evan Paul Zlock

Evan Paul Zlock, 79, of Newtown, Bucks County, died Thursday in his home. He was the husband of Nina F. (Lybarger) Zlock.

He and his wife owned the Newtown Coin and Stamp shop since 1980. He also worked for Radio Corporation of America plants in Lancaster, Somerville, N.J., and Moorestown, N.J., for 30 years before retiring.

He was a graduate of Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Snyder County, where he was honored this year as one of the top basketball players for Susquehanna in the past 100 years. Also a quarterback and middle linebacker for the Susquehanna football team, he was inducted into the Susquehanna Sports Hall of Fame in 1969, the Susquehanna All-Century football team in 1999 and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Planavsky) Zlock.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of God's Love, Newtown.

Zlock was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member and past president of Neshaminy Tennis Club, Bucks County, and a member of Rotary International and Newtown Reliance Company.

Surviving in addition to his widow are six sons, Evan P. Jr. of Dublin, Gilbert of Medford, N.J., Dr. Douglas of Walnut Creek, Calif., Jonathan of Washington Crossing, Bucks County, Mark of Newtown and Kevin of New Hope, Bucks County; a brother, Dr. Charles of Doylestown; two sisters, Eleanor Figner and Christine Phillips, both of Coaldale; and 14 grandchildren.
