IOWA CITY, Iowa - Topping the runner-up by an incredible 10+second margin, senior Allysa Vavra's Big Ten title in the 400 individual medley highlighted day three of the 2012 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

Vavra smashed her own Big Ten record and won the race by more than 10 seconds with a time of 4:01.41 in the 400 individual medley, giving her a second-straight Big Ten title in the event and her second individual crown of the 2012 meet. Vavra's time is the third fastest in the NCAA this season, trailing only Florida's Elizabeth Beisel and USC's Katinka Hosszu. It is the 15th-fastest time ever and makes her the eighth-fastest individual.

SENIOR YEAR (2011-12)

Finished fourth in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2011 ConcoPhillips National Championships ... that performance earned her a spot on the 2011-12 USA Swimming National Team ... represented Team USA at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Mexico, where she won a bronze medal in the 400-meter IM ... set a new school record of 1:56.80 in the 200-yard IM at the Georgia Invitational.

JUNIOR YEAR (2010-11)

Big Ten Champion in the 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley ... set a then-school and new CBAC pool record in the 200 IM (1:57.01) ... her time of 4:04.59 in the 400 IM was a then-Big Ten record ... placed third in the 200 breaststroke with a school-record time of 2:07.71 ... first-team All-Big Ten ... earned All-America honors with an 11th-place finish in the 200 IM at the NCAA Championships, posting a time of 1:57.45 ... that is the third-fastest time in school history ... placed fifth in the 400 IM, breaking her own Big Ten record with a time of 4:04.30 ... became a three-time All-American at the meet with an 11th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.70-third fastest in school history).
