Edward M. Shubeck

Obituary

Edward M. "Finky" Shubeck, 79, of 361 W. Patterson St., Lansford, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Sept. 10, in the St. Luke Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Wargo) Shubeck. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on April 25.

He was employed as an insurance adjuster and then as a merchandiser for General Mills until retiring.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Mary N. Shubeck.

A 1951 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he continued his education at George Washington University, graduating there in 1955.

Shubeck was a past member of Panther Valley School Board and the Lansford-Coaldale Joint Water Authority.

He was a life member of the East End A.A., Lansford, and a former Little League and Knee Hi football coach.

He was inducted into the Carbon County Hall of Fame in 2002.

Surviving iin addition to his widow are three sons, Michael J., and his wife, Jacqueline, Edward M., and his wife, Elizabeth, and John T., and his companion, Tammy Mertz, all of Summit Hill; a daughter Michele, wife of Carl Schaeffer Jr. of New Ringgold; a brother Robert, and his wife, Gloria, of Nesquehoning; six grandchildren, Aric, Cara, Rian and John Shubeck, Jessica Zellner and Cristy Clemson; a niece and two nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jashen Schaeffer.

Service: Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, 340 E. Bertsch St., Lansford; Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m., St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, with the Rev. K.A. Medve officiating. Interment, St. Michael Cemetery, Summit Hill. Call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-10:30 a.m. Thursday. Contributions in his name may be made to the Activities Fund of the St. Luke Geriatric Center, 360 W. Ruddle St., Coaldale, Pa. 18218.
