John S. Chabala

John S. Chabala, 87, of 152 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, died Thursday (December 5) in his home. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Veron) Chabala. They observed their 58th wedding anniversary in June.

He worked for the former No. 11 Mine, Coaldale, and for Bethlehem Fabricators.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Stephen and Amelia (Kokalec) Chabala.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Lansford, where he was a trustee and sexton of the church.

A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he served in the Air Force from 1942-46.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter Roxanne, wife of Jim Davis; and three grandchildren, Jacquelyn Collura, M.D., of Pittsburgh, Tom Davis and Marissa Davis of San Antonio, Tex.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wash and Emil; and a sister, Mary Polansky.

The Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, is in charge of the arrangements.
