Joseph M. Nesterak

Mr. Joseph M. Nesterak, age 81, of Newark, DE, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at Christiana Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Coaldale, PA on December 15, 1926, Mr. Nesterak was a son of the late Michael A. Nesterak and Mary Ann Garber Nesterak. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard during World War II and later attended Strayer College. He would go on to make his career with Eastman Kodak, where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 1988. A devout Catholic and longtime member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Mr. Nesterak served as an usher at 9 am Mass for many years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty Herndon Nesterak; 4 children, Michael T. Nesterak (Janis) of Dover, DE; Richard J. Nesterak (Christina) of Glenwood, MD; Nancy J. Duffy (H. Thomas) of Newark, DE; and Linda A. Levett (Mark) of Annapolis, MD; 2 brothers, William Nesterak of Tamaqua, PA; and Leonard Nesterak of Coaldale, PA; a sister, Mildred Nesterak of Coaldale, PA; and 6 grandchildren, Erin, Alexandra, Andrew, Neil, Emma, and Michael. He was preceded in death by a son, Neil Nesterak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am, on Saturday, October 4, at St. John the Baptist RC Church, E. Main and N. Chapel Streets, Newark, DE, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
