Walter E. Shubeck

Walter E. Shubeck, 87, of Coaldale passed Sunday Feb. 11, at St. Luke's Miners Campus, Coaldale.

Born in Coaldale, July 10, 1930, he was a son of the late Stephen and Myrtle (Gewehr) Shubeck.

A 1948 graduate of Coaldale High School, he retired as a printer working at both the Reading Eagle and the Tamaqua Evening Courier.

He was a member of the Coaldale American Legion. Walter enjoyed working on cars, cooking and visiting Chinese auctions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Gabos.

Surviving are his companion, Charlotte Scheidly, Tamaqua; two brothers, Stephen Shubeck, and his wife Dorothy, Macungie, and John Shubeck, Shoemakersville; two nephews Thomas Gabos and Stephen Shubeck, and one niece Valerie Shubeck.

Service: Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 655 E Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Dan Meader officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Rehabilitation & Nursing, 360 W. Ruddle St., Coaldale, PA 18218.
