John P. Derzock Jr.

John P. Derzock Jr., 89, formerly of Tamaqua, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, in the Sanatoga Center, Pottstown. He was the husband of the late Ellamae (Davidson) Derzock.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna L. Derzock, and her companion, Grace Spena, of Bechtelsville, Barbara, wife of Al Borascius of Coopersburg, and Susan J., wife of Ralph M. Hildebrand of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Kendra, Megan, Abigail, Garrick and Spencer; and a great-grandchild Ella.

A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he served honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He retired from U.P.S., and was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.

An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed fishing and collecting antique cars, and was an amateur photographer.

Born on Thursday, Nov. 11, 1926, in Coaldale, he was a son of the late John Sr. and Margaret (Babyak) Derzock.

He was also predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Coxe, Rose Ann Sicenavage and Veronica Longo; and two brothers, Stephen and Edward.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Parish of St. John XXIII, 301 Pine St., Tamaqua. Interment, SS. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Nesquehoning.
