Mrs. Virginia W. Shamonsky

Mrs. Virginia W. (Ambrose) Shamonsky, 76, of Meadow Avenue, Tamaqua, died Sunday, April 17, in Bethlehem. She was the wife of Charles A. Shamonsky. They were married for 48 years in September.

She was a daughter of the late Walter and Nellie (Crevanus) Ambrose.

A graduate of the former Coaldale High School and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, she was a registered pharmacist for various local pharmacies, having retired from the Rite Aid Corporation after 17 years.

Prior to her marriage, she was a market analyst for Wyeth Laboratories, Radnor.

A member of the Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua, and the Tamaqua B.P.W., Virginia enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling, but will be remembered most for her devotion to her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter Nancy, wife of Ryan Rowinski of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, Charles E., and his wife, Karen, of Bossier City, LA; two grandchildren, Mark and Kaitlyn Shamonsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will also be sorely missed by her dog, Roscoe.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
