Jean V. Yanik


Mrs. Jean V. Yanik, 82, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Coaldale, died Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. She was the widow of John Yanik, who died in 1998.

She worked for the former Atlas Powder Co., Reynolds, for over 30 years before in 1991.

Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late James and the Mable (Steffy) Krapf.

She was of the Presbyterian faith.

The deceased was a 1946 graduate of the former Coaldale High School.

She belonged to the American Legion Post 170 Auxiliary, Coaldale, where she served as its secretary, and was a long tenured past president of the Tamaqua Senior Citizens and a member of the Panther Valley Golden Agers.

Surviving are a son, John T., and his wife, Linda, of Oviedo, Fla.; a brother James, and his wife, June, of Sayre, Pa.; two grandchildren, Karen, and Ann; and two great-grandchildren, Samari and Carlos.

She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruth Murphy; and a sister, Betty James.

Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday.
