Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Hoffa, 83, formerly of Coaldale, died Tuesday, May 24, in Capistrano Beach, Calif. She was the widow of Harry S. Hoffa.

Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late William Melvin and Dorothy Elizabeth Gaddes. She was a stepdaughter of the late Anthony J. Latz of Coaldale.

She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are a son Scott, and his wife, Karen (Swindon), in England; a daughter Maureen, wife of Brian Schuyler of Laguna Nigel, Calif.; a sister, Jean Gangaware of Coaldale; two brothers, William Gaddes of Lake Hauto and David Gaddes of Harrisburg; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
