Theresa (Moneta) Risko, 93, of Coaldale, formerly of Mantzville, died Monday, April 7, 2014, in Coaldale.

She was the widow of John Risko, who died Aug. 13, 2013. They were married for 58 years.

She was legal secretary for Bowe, Lisella, and Bowe Law Office, Tamaqua, retiring in 1998.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Lucas and Theodorka (Scarloss) Moneta.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford.

She was the first female valedictorian of Coaldale High School, where she graduated in 1938.

She was an avid watcher of Jeopardy, and a very devoted member of her church.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann, and her husband, Frank P. Rossi of Bethlehem; granddaughter, Elizabeth Rossi of Bethlehem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Bill, and Joe; sisters Mary and Annie; and a half-brother, Rev. Gregory Moneta.

Service: Office of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, E. Bertsch St., Lansford, with the Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelskyy, officiating.

Interment, parish cemetery, Summit Hill.

Call Monday, 9-10:30 a.m. at the Gulla Funeral Home, 103 E. Ridge St., Coaldale.
Panachida on Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
