John Joseph Terray, 56, of 117 Second St., Coaldale, passed away Monday (March 5, 2006) at home.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of John Terray, Coaldale, and the late Dorothy Hontz Terray. He was a 1968 graduate of Panther Valley High School.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, Coaldale; a member and past officer of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 13; a member of Panther Valley school board; a member of Eastern Schuylkill County Recreation Committee; a former member and vice president of Coaldale Borough Council; a member and past president of C.H.O.S.E. Youth Organization; and a social member of Lansford Legion.

He was active with Schuylkill County Republican Committee, a volunteer for numerous youth organizations and sports activities in the Panther Valley area.

He was preceded in death by his mother, in 1977.

Surviving, in addition to his father, are his wife, Joanne Fern Terray; a son, John H. Terray and his wife, Melissa, Dover, Del.; four daughters, Dorothy and Amanda Terray, both at home, Pamela, wife of Jeff Carver, Bechtelsville, and Cheryl, wife of Steve Honn, York, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kirsten, Aaron, Ashley and Chelsea.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Family and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Carbon-Tamaqua Unit, Lansford. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown
