Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Murphy) Evans, 90, of Tamaqua, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. She was the wife of the late Carl F. Evans, who died in 1966.

A 1928 graduate of Coaldale High School, she retired from the former Jane Ann Fashions as a presser and floor lady.

Elizabeth was a member of the Congregational Church of Coaldale.

She was a daughter of the late Samuel and Anna (Reaman) Murphy.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Ann (Evans) Boyle wife of Robert of Tamaqua; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Samuel, John, Robert, Henry, Arthur and William Murphy; and a sister, Mae Murphy.

Service: on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. from the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home Inc., 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating.
