Joseph S. Sabol Jr.
Joseph S. Sabol Jr., 77, formerly of Coaldale, passed away on Monday, June 24, in the Manor Care Nursing Home, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Suzanne (Pasho) Sabol, who passed away on Aug. 31, 1999.
He worked for the A&P Grocery Stores, Lehighton and Tamaqua, as a meat cutter, and for the Thrift Way Store, Tamaqua. He last worked and retired from Aharts Market, Bath.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Hegedash) Sabol.
A graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the former SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Coaldale, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and member of the Holy Name Society. He was a current member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving are a son Joseph, and his wife, Kristen, of Bethel Park; two daughters, Suzanne Sofish of Catasauqua and Nancy of Somerset, Ky.; a brother Thomas, and his wife, Charlene, of Catasauqua; two sisters, Dolores Gazo of Powder Springs, Ga., and Barbara Bower of Tamaqua; six grandchildren, Rebecca Sofish, Mary Sofish, Christopher Sofish, Alexander Sabol, Nicholas Sabol and Ian Brooking; four nieces and seven nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Bernard.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Military graveside service, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
