David J. Dally Jr.

David J. Dally Jr., 86, of Newark, Del., died Sunday in his residence. He was the husband of Kathryn A. (Miller) Dally. They were married for 61 years.

Prior to retiring in 1982, he had been employed by the Atlas Powder Company and ICI Americas, in Delaware. Previously, he had been employed in the coal mining industry in the Panther Valley.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late David J. and Lottie (Slack) Dally.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He was affiliated with First Congregational Church, Coaldale.

A 1939 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was also a graduate of Brown Vocational School in Delaware.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Post 5, Newark; and American Legion Post 30, New Castle, Del.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Bruce and his wife, Yvonne of Naples, Fla., and Mark and his wife, Beth, of Newark; a brother, Thomas Dally of Coaldale; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements.
