Mrs. Paul Chorney Sr.

Mrs. Madeline K. "Margaret" Chorney Sr., 85, of the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township, died Jan. 13 in the Taylor Hospice. She was the wife of Paul Chorney Sr. They were married for 56 years.

She was the owner and operator of the Margaret Beauty Shop from 1945-56.

Born in Bayonne, N.J., she was a daughter of the late John and Perscilla Scarlos, and had resided in Coaldale from her birth until graduating from the former Coaldale High School in 1940.

She was also a 1950 graduate of the Empire Beauty School and after completing her studies relocated to the Philadelphia area.

The deceased was a 57-year member of the Assumption of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Philadelphia.

She was a life member of the West End Boat Club, Essington, and enjoyed arts and crafts.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son David of Media; a daughter, Susanne K. Ciliano of Medford, N.J.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Madeline Sr., who died April 12, 2006; a brother Demetrous, who died in 1984; and a sister Anna, who died in 1948.
