Mrs. Catherine M. "Kay" Martonyak, 81, of East Sixth Street, Jim Thorpe, died Monday, 01/07/2008, in her home. She was the widow of Andrew P. Martonyak Sr., who died Oct. 5, 2006.

She was a mill worker for the former Berkley Bags, Jim Thorpe,, and other local mills, and later was a cook at the former St. Joe's Club and Memorial Park, both in Jim Thorpe, for many years.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Kumanchick) Gregus.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.

Surviving are a son, Andrew P. Jr., and his wife, Corajean (Kneas), of Franklin Township; a daughter, Carol A., wife of George N. Steigerwalt Jr. of Jim Thorpe; four sisters, Bernadine, wife of Jack Welsh of Lewes, Del., Jessie Stianche of Hometown, Margaret, wife of Paul Dirnberger of Portsmouth, R.I., and Irene, wife of Harold Rehrig of Tamaqua; two brothers, Louis, and his wife, Joy Ann, of Jacksonville, Fla., and John, and his wife, Martha (Ellis), of Coaldale; a sister-in-law, Ann (Endy) Gregus of Coaldale; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother Mickey; and a sister, Mary Lauro.

The Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, is in charge of the arrangements.
