John Polifka

John Polifka, 86, formerly of Coaldale, died Wednesday in the Broad Mountain Nursing Home, Frackville. He was the husband of the late Genevieve (Ivescavage) Polifka, who died in 1995.

Prior to retiring, he was employed by RCA in Sommerville, N.J., for 18 years. Previously, he was a presser for the Charles Raven Shirt and Robe Factory, Frackville, for 25 years.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Paslawsky) Polifka.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford, and graduated from the former Coaldale High School in 1940.

The last immediate member of his family, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother Michael; and four sisters, Sophie Mucha, Mary Bergalis, Anna Malinchock and Eva Kustinavage.

The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of the arrangements.
