GEORGE J. SOPKO

George J. Sopko, 65, of 97 Cumberland Ave., Hometown,
Tamaqua, died Tuesday (12/12/00) at home.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late George, Sr. and
Agnes Bugay Sopko. He was a 1954 graduate of the for-
mer Coaldale High School. He was a Navy veteran of the
Korean War.
He was a retired welder, having last worked for General Dy-
namics Corp., Avenal, N.J.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Cathoilic Church
Tamaqua, Pa., Coaldale American Legion Post 170 and
the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marlene Tomalavage; two
brothers, Edward, Tresckow, Pa. and Thomas J. of Coaldale.
Services will be held at 9:30 AM Friday from Jon M. Zizelmann
Funeral Home, Tamaqua. Mass of Christian Burial will be cele-
brated at 10:00 AM in SS. Peter & Paul Church by the Rev.
William Linckhorst. Internment will be in Sky-View Memorial
Park, Hometown, Tamaqua with full Military Honors. August
M. Gulla Funeral Home, Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements.
