John B. O'Donnell, 78, of Wilmington, Del., died Sunday in Christiana Hospital, Wilmington. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Sullivan) O'Donnell, a native of Tamaqua, who died in 1993.
He was employed by the DuPont Company from 1952 until his retirement in 1985.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Bernard and Cecilia (Fisher) O'Donnell.
He served in Europe with the U.S. Army during World War II, 1944-46.
He attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from Coaldale High School in 1944, and Dickinson College in 1952.
He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, and the DuPont Country Club, both of Wilmington.
He is survived by a son, Bernard J. of Wilmington; a daughter Karen M. Warner of Newark, Del.; a sister, Joan, wife of Charles Wildoner of Jim Thorpe; and three grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and James; and a sister, Rita Miller.
The Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown roads, Wilmington, Del., is in charge of arrangements.
