Stephen Kacik Jr.

Stephen "Jaker" "Junior" Kacik Jr., formerly of East High Street in Coaldale, died Saturday in Hometown

Prior to retiring, he worked for the No. 14 Breaker in Tamaqua for the former LNC Company, the Keystone Lamp Factory in Slatington and was a driller/flagman for the state department of transportation during the construction of the Lehigh Tunnel on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Steve and Anastasia (Horoschak) Kacik.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of corporal.

Russian Orthodox by faith, he was a member of the Coaldale American Legion and Coaldale VFW.

The last immediate member of his family, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and George Kacik.
