John F. Stack, age 84, passed away April 17, 2018 in Las Vegas after a lengthy illness. He was born in Coaldale, Pa. to John and Winifred Stack. After high school graduation, he worked for the Reading Railroad and GM-BPO plant in Linden, N.J. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge, he attended Penn State University, where he graduated with a degree in accounting and finance, and went to work for G.M. Ternstedt in Trenton, N.J. John was an auditor for Fisher Body, Warren, Mich. for 10 years, and became comptroller of the Fisher Body Inland Division of G.M. in Euclid, Ohio. After working for General Motors for 30 years, he retired and moved to Pahrump, where he resided for 24 years. John was the owner of Affordable Tax Service. John was a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals; Amwell Lodge #12 F&AM in Lambertville, N.J. and the Penn State Alumni Assoc. of Las Vegas. He loved to golf, fish, camp, hike and travel. He was an avid Penn State football fan and never missed a Saturday game. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." John was true to this motto. He fought a courageous battle the past four years and will always be loved and forever remembered by his family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winifred; and brother, Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 64 years (in June), Marilyn; son, John, Denver, Colo.; son, Andrew, San Jose, Calif.; and granddaughter, Michelle, Boston, Mass; brother Wilfred (Ginny); and many nieces and nephews. The family will have a private Celebration of Life.
