George T. Bottomley, Sr.

George T. Bottomley, Sr., 76, of 230 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, died Wednesday (November 22) in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Kathryn "Kathy" (Neyer) Bottomley.

Prior to retiring in 1998, he had been employed by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company, at the No. 14 Breaker.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Charles and Lulu (Smith) Bottomley.

He was affiliated with the First Congregational Church, Coaldale.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Bottomley served during the Korean Conflict.

A 1948 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he was a life member of the Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Robin, wife of Todd Zwolenik of Northampton and Georgiann, wife of John Walter of Lansford; two sons, George T. Jr., and Robert Greenall Jr. and his wife, Sally, and all of Lansford; and six grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles; and a sister, Dorothy Kellner.

The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements

Bottomley correction
George T. Bottomley Sr., of Lansford, who died on Wednesday, is also survived by a daughter, Georgiann, wife of John W. Moniak of Lansford. The husband's surname was incorrect in Friday's obituary.

Bottomley was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Bottomley, who died in 1992.
