Peter King (84)

Peter King formerly of Orefield and Coaldale, died Friday (March 10) in Coopersburg, Pa. Born in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Harry and Anna (Tymchak) King. He was a member of St. Marys Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale. He was a member of Teamsters Union and was a former assistant to the Orefield Boy Scouts Troop. Survivors: Wife, Ilene (Polansky) King of Coopersburg; sons, Peter of Slatington and Nicholas of Bear, Delaware; daughter, Nancy Wetzel of Plains, Pa.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (Zozula) King and by a sister, Mary Shereba. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Marys Russian Orthodox Church, First Street, Coaldale. Call Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements, Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, Tamaqua. Contributions: American Cancer Society, 33 W. Ridge St., Lansford.

Peter King, 84, formerly of Orefield and Coaldale, died Friday in the Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coopersburg. He was the husband of Ilene (Polansky) King of Coopersburg and the late Dorothy (Zozula) King, who died in 1983.

He last worked for the Alpo Corp, Allentown, from 1969-94; prior to that he had worked as a truck driver.

Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Harry and Anna (Tymchak) King.

He was a member of St. Mary Russian Greek Orthodox Church, Coaldale, and the Teamsters Union, and was a former assistant to the Orefield Boy Scouts Troop for many years.

He was a graduate of Coaldale High School.

Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Peter D. of Slatington and Nicholas, and his wife, Pat, of Bear, Del.; a daughter, Nancy, wife of Bruce Wetzel of Plains, Luzerne County; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Shereba.

The Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.
